On Jan 10^{th I was notified by the Chairman that I was voted in as the new Vice Chairman Northern Division. I wish to thank all who voted for me and all members for their support of this organization. I am proud to have been a member of the OFDAI since 2006. I only wish it was 20 years ago.}

As Vice  Chairman I will abide by the Constitution and rules of the OFDAI.  I will keep an open mind and listen to any concerns you may have. I will give my  support to the Chairman at all times. Whether we will always agree on everything I can’t say but I will say that I will always support his decisions

I look forward to the 2013 shooting season and the new shoots we will be having this year. I wish all of you could make all the shoots but I know because of jobs and travel expense that can’t happen. I wish for all members and their family lots of fun and camaraderie. I have belonged to many organization in my life but never have had as much love and fun than that which is shared is the OFDAI.

I would like to thank all of you that help with your equipment and your time in set up and tear down after the shoots. We can not do it alone and are very grateful for your help.

In 2003 I profiled Ron Paul in the June Bulletin.   Here it is, hope all who reads it will enjoy!  
The decision was an easy one, after reading his answers to the
questioner.  He answered them with a real sense of humor.  And I enjoyed what he
had to say.

Ron Paul has been in fast draw since 1978.
He was introduced to the sport by a fellow police officer, which also
introduced him to western shows.  Another one of his passions.  Ron will tell you,
he has done most of the contests, East of the Mississippi.  And in 1991, went to the World Championship
in Florence, AZ.  Ron has held over thirty fastest shot records, and/or series records.
He has also held the title of North coast “Fastest Gun Alive” in 2000, 2001, and 2002.  Ron also was the “Double
Gun Champion” in 1999, and 2000.  Ron has won to many other awards over his years in fast draw, to numerous to mention,
but I bet if you ask him, he will!

When Ron was asked how often he practices, his answer was “at random” (Only when Mr.
Random shows up) But I know that sometimes he practices with Phil, and of late
has gotten his lady, Emily to shoot.  And I sure hope that she will be entering the contests soon.  Emily is very supportive of Ron and the
sport.

Ron enjoys most everything about the sport of fast draw, but hates when he misses
the target.  But when he hits it, look out.  His advise to new shooters would be
shoot straight-then shoot fast. And boy is Ron fast!  He likes the competition, and really enjoys
himself at the contests, and enjoys the people, when he can stay awake.  He depends on Emily to keep him on track.

Ron’s inspirations in the sport of fast draw have been, Harry Ballengee, Dale Searls,
Duke Bonnett, and many others.  So you can see he looks up to the best this sport has to offer.

Out of Ron’s four children, two have tried shooting.  Most of his family and friends think he’s
“nuts” to be in a sport like this.  But when you know Ron, you understand just how important guns are to him.  Ron has worked with firearms for over thirty years.  And is now a gunsmith at Gander Mountain in Mentor, Ohio.  And is a promoter of the stores.  He has been interviewed several times by Cleveland’s local news, and I hope you all read the article, which was in your September/October 2002 issue
of the bulletin, which was featured in the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Aug. 2002.  The article also featured our very
own “Fireball” Phil.

Ron has introduced his love of fast draw and guns to many people, and has done
several demonstrations to promote the sport.  When the question came to a funny story that he could tell about
himself, or a fellow shooter, Ron said, yes.  I came to the 2002 Toledo OFDA shoot, and was asked to complete this
questioner.  He also added 2 + 2 = 4.

Some of Ron’s other loves are trap shooting, cowboy action, motorcycles, music, (classical and
country), and of course, beer consumption.

To Ron I say “Hats Off”.
